EIMS FAQ

Question:

How can I configure the Mail Server to provide SMTP services without becoming an open relay?

Answer

All versions of the Apple Mail Server prior to 10.1.3 are considered an open relay. Version 10.1.3 introduced an improved mail server that allows you to control who can send what through your server. It does this through a combination of SMTP Relay restrictions and newly added SMTP AUTH capabilities.
